Fall Up Writing

Let the fire show through the smoke

About Me

Hi, I’m Ana Cooke. Welcome to Fall Up Writing ! I’m a writer, editor, teacher, hiker, and dog-lover. I founded Fall Up Writing to help writers transform their risky ventures, rough drafts, first starts, and catastrophic failures into a polished work. I believe we all have the potential to be “good writers” if we work at it, and my goal is to help you find your voice, connect with your audience, and accomplish your rhetorical goals.

I have 15+ years of experience as a professional editor and professor of rhetoric and writing. I started my career as an editor working on textbooks at W.W. Norton & Company, and fell in love with the study of writing, and with understanding how and why good writers make the choices they do. I completed a Ph.D. in Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon in 2018, and worked as an English professor in the Department of English at Penn State University teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in rhetoric and writing.

I’ve worked with writers at all levels, working on all types of projects, from business and professional communication, to academic essays, to published books. I’m interested to hear what you’re working on, and to help you develop, shape, and edit your ideas.

Email me for a free consultation, to discuss your writing goals, and get started turning your “dumpster fire” into your masterpiece.
